Summary

Our technology serves anyone who wishes to leverage automatic discovery tools – from intelligence analysts and medical researchers t0 financial analysts and attorneys. Their tasks and requirements are as varied and different as yours. Our technology can help you mine your data, your way and discover the information you need.

We live in an age where our ability to gather information has outstripped our ability to analyze that information. Next generation data analysis tools have to leverage both computational power but also human insight. Current tools let us probe the mountain of data but the fear is we will miss those hidden and unanticipated decision variables buried there. These aren’t just variables we don’t know the value of. They are variables we don’t even know exist.

Sometimes known as unk-unk (for unknown-unknown), these represent uncertainty in any formal decision model because they are outside influences not accounted for in the model. Decision models are axiomatic – they begin from a proposition that is believed to be self-evident. Other statements are then derived from there. The fear is that the unanticipated decision variable is not included in the logical analysis and that the statements made by the model are biased or incorrect.

Digital Reasoning tools work to give you freedom from this uncertainty. The content of analysis cannot be communicated properly if you don’t trust the results due to uncertainty. So tools that reduce this uncertainty improve your trust in the results and make the analysis more effective. This is done by building models from the data without imposing an external list of static assumptions. Written communication contains naturally occurring flaws and unexpected features. Is the word misspelled or a neologism? Do “Tom Smith” and “Mr. Thomas Smith” refer to the same person? These are some examples of problems Digital Reasoning Systems tools help solve.

Our principal product is Synthesys™ – a Software Development Kit (SDK) and platform for data analytics, which enables users/developers to easily create entity-oriented applications based on discovering and unifying meaning from vast amounts of structured and unstructured data from disparate databases and systems. Both our analyst’s tool, Interceptor™, and our geotagging solution, GeoLocator™, were built upon Synthesys.

Synthesys features include state-of-the-art query augmentation, faceted navigation, contextual search, entity extraction, geotagging and entity resolution.

Some of the principal benefits of Synthesys is its ability to peer into documents and extract meaning, create a model from the data and to scale.
