Geotagging

In response to the direct needs and requirements of the intelligence community, Digital Reasoning has developed a location- focused solution based on our patented Digital Reasoning core intelligence engine contained within Synthesys™.

Our GeoLocator™ solution extracts locations from text documents with the accuracy and precision necessary to determine GIS positions, and then enables any existing visualization and mapping applications in the analyst workflow to display the results.

Digital Reasoning used the same core technology, available now in our data analytics platform, to create a precision-based tool that extracts countries and populated places from unstructured text, while providing their respective geo-coordinates.

Our GeoLocator solution works out of the box with the NASA World Wind and Google Earth mapping tools and acts as an input to pre-existing workflows and information streams using industry standard XML output. It also provides support for a web and Java API, facilitating easy integration of Synthesys into other custom applications.

Our GeoLocator solution identifies unique locations in a corpus of documents and annotates each of the processed documents with relevant GIS coordinates. When locations are ambiguous, GeoLocator provides all possible results for further processing and analysis. The XML output can be immediately used in any XML-ready application or as an interface to local software projects.

At the heart of any geotagging application is the gazetteer, containing specific information describing each location, such as GIS positions and location attributes. Our GeoLocator solution supports the creation and management of a custom Gazetteer in addition to the one supplied by the product, providing the user flexibility to add their own locations or modify information on existing locations.
