Digital Reasoning® Systems develops software solutions that rapidly process and organize large amounts of unstructured data into meaningful, relevant and quantifiable knowledge automatically. Our core technology, which we call Digital Reasoning®, is a a platform-independent learning engine that can be used to provide for the automatic categorization, linking, retrieval and profiling of unstructured data. Digital Reasoning® significantly extends the power of Knowledge Discovery tools and practices. What is Unstructured Data? Unstructured data refers to information hosted on computers which does not have a discernible structure across a number of data items. Examples of unstructured data items may include audio, video and unstructured text such as the body of an email, blog or document. Although each item may have a defined form or structure, it can still be referred to as “unstructured” if the internal structure is not known in advance and if the relationship and associations between the items is not known. For example, an HTML web page is highly structured, but the structure defines formatting and random content description tags rather than a true definition of the page content and it relationship to any other content. What is Unstructured Data Analytics? Unstructured Data Analytics (UDA) is the process of extracting meaningful information from machine readable data content. Sophisticated algorithms are used to identify term and concept relationships across many data items and data types. The analytics enables rapid creation of many different models of the same information. Custom model views allow information discovery and concept extraction not previously possible with the enforcement of predefined data structure schemes. How does it work? Our technology has foundations in cognitive science, psychology, philosophy of language, and multiple artificial intelligence (AI) approaches. The central differentiation of the patent pending Digital Reasoning® is that through its unique knowledge abstraction tool, it combines process optimization and application integration to form a semantically aware and adaptive filtering process that references the meaning of the data based on the data’s relationships. What problem does the technology address? The exponential growth of unstructured data represents an information tsunami that is overwhelming the analytical capability of most organizations. In many organizations, the need to understand and manage this data has moved well beyond the crisis point. Unstructured data can only be managed and used effectively by analyzing and understanding both its content and its context. Digital Reasoning® Systems' proprietary technology enables unstructured information to be processed, organized and understood better than competing products because we do not require the knowledge domain to be defined or constrained in advance. Our solutions build models from the data rather than requiring that data fit into predefined models, as most competing solutions do. This distinctive feature of Digital Reasoning® gives rise to a greater out-of-the-box utility and flexibility while at the same time providing a long-term performance edge and competitive advantage to organizations who fully exploit the potential of our technology. How is it applied? Digital Reasoning® Systems' technology is primarily targeted at three end-user markets and applications: Government (Intelligence Community), Enterprise, and OEM Solutions. We believe that the broad applicability of DRSI's technology is an indicator of substantial and growing market application opportunities. An increasing number of third-party software developers that require an intelligent, adaptive UDA solution that scales well are investigating Digital Reasoning® Systems' technology to embed into future versions of their applications. What value does it bring? Digital Reasoning® Systems' technology and products bring a fully-automated solution to the problems that organizations encounter as the information tsunami continues to rise. By facilitating the automated processing, organization and extraction of meaningful data, we enable organizations to optimize the vast potential knowledge that can be extracted from their unstructured data, and facilitate the emergence of the Collective Wisdom that lies dormant in most organizations. Why Digital Reasoning®? Digital Reasoning® captures, applies, and retains an organization’s Collective Wisdom over time. Digital Reasoning® begins by learning from an organization’s documented knowledge in whatever format it is available. When Digital Reasoning encounters a completely novel piece of information, it does not simply discard it as other technologies do, but rather learns what the novel information means in the context of the organization. It can build these inferences from scratch. What does this mean to an organization? Where other technology will discard any information that it has not been specifically trained to capture, Digital Reasoning® can find the pieces of information that are new or overlooked. Once that information is found, Digital Reasoning® can determine how the new or overlooked information is applicable to the organization and add it to the organization’s Collective Wisdom. Digital Reasoning® can also learn from your employees. It does this by automatically creating a model of the way an organization uses its information and resources that can include input and behavior from every person interacting with the system. Where other solutions have focused on assisting each employee make better use of an organization’s knowledge and resources, Digital Reasoning® provides those tools and learns from each employee how to better order the Collective Wisdom of the organization and improve its processes over time. As Digital Reasoning® products capture the Collective Wisdom of an organization, it analyzes that Wisdom, placing it in the context of the organization’s structure and needs. The speed and accuracy at which Digital Reasoning® technology is able to analyze Collective Wisdom is unprecedented. In addition, Digital Reasoning® does not break down under heavy loads of information as other technologies may. Rather, it maintains speed while becoming more accurate as it learns more. |
